How to Create Modifiers

Modifiers let customers customize products — sizes, add-ons, or special instructions. You manage them in Store → Menu → Modifiers.

Where to find it: Store → Menu → Modifiers (tab at the top of the Menu page). You’ll see modifier groups on the left, options in the center, and product assignment on the right.

How to Create a Modifier Group

1. Go to Store → Menu
2. Open the Modifiers tab
3. Click Create Group or Add modifier group
4. Enter the group name (e.g. “Size”, “Extras”, “Special instructions”)
5. Choose the modifier type (Variant, Addon, or Instruction)
6. Set Required, Min selection, and Max selection as needed
7. Save

Modifier Types

Choose the type that fits how customers should select options:

Type	Use for	Example	Customer picks
Variant	Sizes, choices where one is required	Small / Medium / Large	Exactly one (or min–max)
Addon	Optional extras with a price	Extra cheese, Extra sauce	Zero or more
Instruction	Special requests, no price	”No ice”, “Well done”	Optional text/choice

How to Add Modifier Options

After creating a group:

1. Click the modifier group in the list
2. In the Modifier options panel, click Add items or Create item
3. Add options from:
   • Modifiers — Custom modifier items (e.g. “Small”, “Large”, “Extra cheese”)
   • Products — Your regular menu products (only products with Can be sold alone = On)
4. For each option, set Title, Price (or 0 for free), and optionally description/image
5. Drag to reorder — the order is the order customers see

Modifier Group Settings

Setting	Purpose
Name	Group label (e.g. “Size”, “Extras”)
Description	Optional (shown to customers)
Required	Customer must select at least one option
Min selection	Minimum number of options to pick
Max selection	Maximum number of options to pick
Modifier type	Variant, Addon, or Instruction

Modifier Options (Items)

Each option can have:

• Title — What customers see
• Price — Added to the product when selected (or 0 for free)
• Description — Optional
• Image — Optional — click the image area to open the Media Gallery (Your Gallery or Menuella Stock)
• Price overrides — Different price for specific products or sizes

Example: Size Modifier

1. Create group “Size”, type Variant, Required = On, Min = 1, Max = 1
2. Add options: Small (€0), Medium (+€0.50), Large (+€1.00)
3. Assign to products (see How to assign modifiers to products)
4. When customers order, they see Size: Small | Medium | Large and must pick one

Example: Addon Modifier

1. Create group “Extras”, type Addon, Required = Off, Min = 0, Max = 5
2. Add options: Extra cheese (+€1.50), Extra sauce (+€0.50)
3. Assign to products
4. When customers order, they can optionally add extras

Use Variant for sizes or required choices (e.g. Small/Medium/Large). Use Addon for optional extras (e.g. extra cheese, extra shot). Use Instruction for free-form requests (e.g. “No ice”, “Well done”). Keep option names short — they appear in the ordering flow. Set min/max selection so customers can’t over-select (e.g. max 3 addons).
