Tax & VAT Settings

Configure tax rates per product and modifier. The VAT breakdown in your financial reports is calculated automatically from these settings.

Where to find it: Store → Menu → Products (or Modifiers) → edit item → Pricing section

Each product and modifier option has a tax field in the Pricing section. You set the VAT rate per item — e.g. 7% for food, 19% for drinks.

When you create a new product or modifier without setting a tax rate, the default is 7%. You can change it to any rate that applies to that item.

  1. Go to Store → Menu → Products (or Modifiers)
  2. Click the product or modifier option to edit
  3. Open the Pricing section
  4. Find the Tax or VAT field
  5. Select or enter the rate — e.g. 7%, 19%, or your country’s rate
  6. Save

CountryTypical rates
GermanyFood 7%, Drinks 19%
FranceDifferent rates (e.g. 5.5%, 10%, 20%)
OtherSet the rate that applies to each item

Menuella uses the tax you set per item to calculate totals and the VAT breakdown automatically.

The VAT breakdown in Financial Reports is auto-calculated from the tax rates on your products and modifiers. Sales are grouped by rate (e.g. Sales at 7%, Sales at 19%) — ready for tax returns and your accountant.

Prices can be entered as tax-inclusive (price includes VAT) or tax-exclusive (VAT is added at checkout). The setting is in your store or pricing configuration. Check the Pricing section when editing a product to see how your prices are treated.
