How to Create a Category

Categories organize your menu so customers can browse items by type (e.g. Starters, Mains, Drinks). You manage them in Store → Menu → Categories.


Where to find it: Store → Menu → Categories (tab at the top of the Menu page)


  1. Go to Store → Menu
  2. Open the Categories tab
  3. Click Add category or Create category
  4. Enter the category name (e.g. “Mains”, “Drinks”)
  5. (Optional) Add a description and image — click the image area to open the Media Gallery
  6. Set Visible to On
  7. Save

In Store → Menu → Categories you can:

  • View all categories with product count
  • Create a new category (name, description, image)
  • Edit a category (quick edit or full form)
  • Delete a category (products in it become uncategorized)
  • Reorder by dragging — the order here is the order customers see
  • Search and filter (show all, visible only, or hidden only)
  • Toggle visible/hidden per category (hidden categories don’t appear to customers)

  • Create categories first, then add products — you need at least one category before adding products.
  • Put bestsellers in the first categories so customers see them first.
  • Use Hidden instead of deleting for categories you want to pause — turn them back on when needed.
